Planning Application – The Regent, Guiseley

Presentation1Plans are currently being considered to turn The Regent, Otley Road, Guiseley into two retail units including a single storey side extension, and a reduction to 5 parking spaces.   Comments on this proposal need to be made on the Leeds Planning Website by 26th March.

The Regent was originally built-in the late 19th century to be the Hotel for a nearby Railway Station,  before it was realized that the gradients were too high and the station was built on its current site.

The Regent is in the Guiseley Conservation Area – document here.  The main issue with the proposals are around the design of a ‘heritage’ building in the conservation area.  The design and access statement, together with comments from the Leeds Conservation Team can be found here along with the form to comment on.  Conversely,  the building has been empty for two years and no buyer found.
