Do You Want To See Aireborough’s Housing Need Measured Accurately?

At long last Leeds City Council is reviewing its Core Strategy’s (2012 – 2028) over ambitious housing target of 70,000 net houses (spatial policy 6) . To do this they need accurate information on housing need in the different areas of the City.  To this end they have commissioned a Strategic Housing Market Assessment up to the year 2033 from an independent company called Arc4, and are asking residents to complete a housing needs survey.

Everyone in Aireborough is urged to respond to any  postal invitation they might receive from the Council to complete this survey – 28,000 will be mailed to a sample of residents.  Alternatively,  you can complete a survey via an on-line questionnaire here.  It needs to be filled in by the end of May 2017.  Also, please note you do not need an ID, unless you have been sent a questionnaire – just fill in your postcode and continue.

Leeds City Council has advised us that people submitting a completed surveys  by the deadline,  will be entered into a Prize Draw with a top prize of £150 in vouchers; but the real ‘prize’ will be an officially recognized and hopefully reliable housing needs study for Aireborough – but we have to make sure it is accurate: for that we really do need you help.

The text of the Council’s email to us is as follows:

“Please be aware that the company Arc4 is currently undertaking a Housing Needs Survey on behalf of Leeds City Council.  The results of this will be extremely useful to help make sure Leeds gets the right mix of new dwellings to meet people’s needs including houses and flats, mix of sizes, how much affordable housing and how much for elderly and disabled people.  It is a worthwhile cause, which will be beneficial to Leeds as a whole.

Arc4 is sending out postal questionnaires to a selection of addresses across Leeds.  If you receive one, please find the time to fill it in and send it back in the pre-paid envelope.  The results will be anonymised and only used for the survey.  Your personal details will only be used for the purposes of administering this survey and the prize draw, then destroyed.

There will be a Prize Draw giving opportunity to win a top prize of £150 of shopping vouchers and two runner-up prizes of £50 of shopping vouchers.

If you have any difficulties answering questions there is a free phone number where someone will be able to help you.

This is open to all Leeds residents.
