The nights are drawing in, the weather is turning cold and the lights are about to come on – and they seem to get better and better each year, which is a credit to the volunteers who raise the funds and run the show.  The Aireborough Neighbourhood Forum will be having a fundraising stall at each of the following events – so come and see us and say hello.

Next weekend sees the Yeadon Christmas Light Switch On – Friday 24th November, 6-7pm, Town Hall Square.  There will be local children singing carols, fairground rides lighting up the night, and an early visit from Santa, which is always popular.   There is also a Christmas Tree display in Yeadon Library,  each one sponsored by a local business.  The event is put on by the Yeadon Festive Lights Committee.

The Guiseley Star

Guiseley’s Switch On is Sunday 26th November 2-6pm in Towngate.  The lights this year will be switched on by Emmerdale stars James Hooton (Sam Dingle) and Karen Blick (Lydia Hart).   But the star attraction, is likely to be the large star that has been hoisted up to the top of St Oswald’s tower by some very brave men.  There will also be a snowball fight with over 1,300 wooly pom-poms made by community arts group Codswallop, and Santa is bound to put in another appearance.   The fund-raising and organizing has been done by the Guiseley Christmas Lights Appeal.  The event has been sponsored by Airecentre Pacers, and Lee and Friends Hairdressing, Guiseley.

Thanks must go to everyone involved with organizing these events; without them the townships of Aireborough would have a couple of trees, a few lamppost lights, and a lot of unhappy people !!
