Charges Announced for Chevin Car Park

Details have been announced for the parking charges and penalty payments in the Chevin Car Parks.

Leeds City Council have published the legal notice which allows them to charge for parking and issue enforcement penalty charges on the Chevin, following the decision made by the Council in July this year to do so, despite huge objections by local people and the most local Councillors.

*The Leeds City Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2024 made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 will enable the introduction of parking charges in the following car parks;

  • πŸ“East Chevin Quarry car park
  • πŸ“Upper and Lower Shaw Field car parks

Charges will apply on all days between 8-00am and 8-00pm

  • Β£1 up to 2 hours
  • Β£2.50 for up to 4 hours
  • Β£4 for up to 12 hours
  • Season ticket: Β£10 per calendar month or Β£80 per annum
  • No charge for Disabled Persons Badge Holder

There are no details as yet on any arrangements for volunteer groups using the Chevin for their activities.

Penalty charges will be Β£50 for a small offence and Β£70 for a larger one, and issued via a Penalty Notice (PCN). The charge will be halved if paid within 14 days.

The classes of vehicles eligible to park within the above car parks are; all Motor Vehicles (not having a trailer attached) the weight of which does not exceed 3 tonnes maximum gross weight, Motorcycles and Invalid Carriages. There is no details on horse trailers for people who might want to use the bridleways.
